Now that spring has sprung and the flowers are coming out in bloom and new wildlife is popping up everywhere why not try something a little different and see if you can complete one of the many walking or cycling routes around Norfolk.
In this blog we will be giving you some of the walking routes and some of our great Items that we stock in store that may help you along your way.
Peddars Way
A challenging off-road ride. There are easy sections, but others that are bumpy and some that involve moderate climbs. The reward is excellent and varied scenery along this 46-mile route that runs from Holme near Hunstanton, and inland to touch the edge of Thetford forest, finishing just beyond the Country Park of Knettishall Heath. Most of Peddars Way is off-road. It is open to walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
Moderate to hard track. Surfaces vary on this lengthy route; take local advice.
Norfolk Coastal Path
The path takes you from views of the Wash and the Lincolnshire Coastline at Hunstanton, and past many internationally recognised wildlife reserves.
There are a variety of circular walks, based from the trail, ideal for an afternoons ramble. The path is well serviced by public transport, the Coasthopper bus service runs from Hunstanton to Cromer. Weavers Way
The 61 mile Weavers’ Way between Cromer and Great Yarmouth offers a wide variety of scenery that ranges from woodland and mixed farmland to grazing marshes and tidal mud flats. Much of the Weaver's Way, is footpath only but from Aylsham to Stalham cycling is permitted. (13-mile section.)
Along its route, as well as passing many areas of wildlife interest, the Weavers’ Way takes in several market towns and country house estates and passes numerous medieval flint churches and tower wind pumps that are characteristic of this part of the county.
Marriotts Way
Marriotts way is perfect for cycling and walking. At 26 miles this is one of the longest off-road routes in the country. This tranquil trail winds its way through glorious countryside and picturesque villages following the track-bed of the decommissioned railway line that linked Aylsham and Reepham with Norwich.
There is an abundance of wildlife - you might see kestrels, hares, orchids and if you're very lucky, otters - ancient churches, local food pleasures and artwork to enjoy along the way.
